Place, Civic Identity and Inclusion
Placemaking is a way of creating more authentic, vibrant and sustainable places (main streets, town centres, villages and suburbs) through processes of researching, engaging and doing.
Our Team have been developing and implementing Place Plans for more than 10 years in addition to over 20 years of business and strategic planning.
Our approach is based on holistic place making principles with whole of community collaboration, in-depth analysis and auditing, identifying partnerships, linkages and resources, resulting in a prioritised strategic framework. Place Plans identify short, medium and long term (10 yrs +) actions for all key stakeholders including Council, State agencies and local businesses and commercial property owners.
Our highly experienced team will work with you through the stages of developing, understanding, engagement and implementation of creating great places.
STAGE ONE – RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
Including: place auditing; researching the history; socio-economic analysis including population forecasting; commercial/retail occupancy rates; transport, pedestrian, cycle and parking access; review and consolidation of reference documentation including Council plans and strategies, and regional publications.
STAGE TWO – INTERNAL AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Including: Establishment of Internal Project Group; Community Surveying; Online Engagement using Engagement Hub software; Community Exploratory Workshops and Listening Posts; Councillor Workshop; Public Relations and Communications Program.
STAGE THREE – PLACE PLAN DRAFTING
Including: Development of Vision and Strategic Framework; Identification and Prioritisation of Actions; Key Stakeholders responsible for delivery; estimated budget of implementing Place Plan.
STAGE FOUR – PLACE PLAN ADOPTION
Including: Councillor Workshop; Public Exhibition; and ultimately endorsement by Council.
STAGE FIVE – IMPLEMENTATION & EVALUATION
